Expert Running Gait Analysis in Asheville, NC

If you keep getting hurt every time your mileage climbs, the problem isn't your fitness — it's your mechanics. At Outshine Physical Therapy and Fitness, our running gait analysis goes beyond a quick video review. Dr. Valere — Boston Marathon finisher and former D1 Track athlete — identifies the root cause of your recurring injuries so you can run farther, faster, and pain-free.

Expert Running Gait Analysis in Asheville, NC

Sound Familiar? You're Not Alone.

Most runners don't get hurt because they train too hard. They get hurt because no one has ever looked closely at how they actually move — and generic rest advice only delays the real fix.

You're Stuck in the Injury-Rest-Repeat Cycle

Your PT Just Gave You Exercises and Said Good Luck

You're Running Through Pain and Hoping It Goes Away

You back off, the pain fades, you rebuild — and it comes back. Rest isn't a root-cause solution. Without understanding why your body breaks down, the same injury will keep finding you.

Generic protocols and rushed sessions don't cut it for performance-focused runners. You need someone who will assess your movement, treat the cause, and progress you back to full training.

Pushing through a nagging hamstring, Achilles, or IT band issue rarely ends well. Small mechanical faults compound over miles, and what starts as discomfort can become a season-ending injury.

Why Asheville Runners Choose Outshine PT

Our running gait analysis near me option is the one Asheville runners have been looking for: a full clinical assessment, not a 10-minute treadmill glance. We analyze cadence, stride mechanics, hip and knee control, and foot loading patterns — then connect every finding directly to a hands-on treatment and strength plan personalized to you.

  • 1-on-1 care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy every single visit — no techs, no handoffs

  • Root-cause gait analysis led by Dr. Valere, a Boston Marathon finisher and former D1 Track & Field athlete

  • Assess–Treat–Train framework: we identify the fault, treat the tissue, and build the strength so the injury doesn't come back

Getting Back to Running Is a 3-Step Process

Step 1: Assess — Find the Real Problem

Step 2: Treat — Fix the Root Cause

Step 3: Train — Build Back Stronger

Your first visit starts with a thorough movement and gait evaluation. Dr. Valere analyzes how you run, identifies mechanical faults, and pinpoints the tissue or strength gap driving your injury — not just where it hurts.

We combine hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, and targeted soft tissue work to resolve the underlying issue. Every session is 1-on-1 with your Doctor of Physical Therapy from start to finish.

Once the pain is gone, we don't send you on your way. Progressive strength and return-to-running programming ensures you come back to Bent Creek, Carrier Park, or race day better than before your injury.

Running Conditions We Treat in Asheville, NC

Whether you're training for your first 5K or your tenth marathon through the Blue Ridge Mountains, our running gait analysis in Asheville catches the mechanical patterns that lead to breakdown. We treat the full spectrum of running-related injuries — from early warning signs to post-surgical return-to-run programs.

  • Lower body running injuries: runner's knee, IT band syndrome, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, hip impingement, and hamstring strains

  • Spine and hip pain affecting your stride: low back pain, sciatica, hip FAI, and groin pain that limits your mileage or your form

  • Return-to-running progressions after surgery or time off: ACL rehab, post-op hip or ankle recovery, and strength baseline testing before race season

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Outshine PT is a private-pay, out-of-network clinic. This means your care isn't dictated by insurance visit limits or pre-authorization requirements — you get the time and attention you actually need. We accept HSA/FSA cards and provide superbills so you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement on your own.

Do I need a doctor's referral to be seen?

No. North Carolina is a direct access state, which means you can schedule with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Your free phone consult is the only first step you need.

What makes Outshine different from other PT clinics in Asheville?

Every visit is 1-on-1 with your Doctor of Physical Therapy — no techs, no bouncing between three patients at once. We use a root-cause, performance-based approach: we assess why you're injured, treat the actual problem with advanced hands-on tools (dry needling, cupping, IASTM, manual therapy), and build you back stronger than baseline with progressive training. You'll also have direct text/call/email access to your DPT between appointments.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

We get new patients on the schedule within 48 hours. We offer early morning (7 AM), evening (until 7 PM Monday–Thursday), and lunch availability to fit around your training and work schedule.

What happens during a running gait analysis at Outshine?

Dr. Valere conducts a full clinical running assessment — analyzing cadence, stride mechanics, hip and knee control, and foot and ankle loading patterns. She connects every finding to a hands-on treatment plan and strength programming designed to eliminate the mechanical cause of your recurring injury, not just manage the symptoms.

How do I get started?

Start with a free 15-minute phone consult. We'll talk through what's going on, your goals, and whether Outshine is the right fit for you. No pressure, no obligation — just a real conversation with someone who gets it. Call or text us at (828) 808-3704 or email info@outshineptandfitness.com.
