At Outshine Physical Therapy and Fitness, movement is for everyone. Pride Month is a time to uplift and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community—and there's no better way to honor that than by moving together, proudly and joyfully.
We’re especially excited to support this year’s Blue Ridge Pride 5K, happening Saturday, June 14 right here in Asheville!
Train With Pride
Whether you're walking, jogging, or running your heart out, prepping your body before the race is key to feeling strong and confident on the course.
Here’s how to warm up and recover like a pro:
Dynamic Warm-Up Before your run, activate your muscles with:
Leg swings (front-to-back and side-to-side)
Walking lunges
High knees
Post-Run Reset After crossing the finish line, ease into recovery with:
Gentle calf, quad, and hip flexor stretches
Foam rolling to reduce soreness
Deep breathing to bring down your heart rate
Listen to Your Body If you feel any sharp pain, tightness that won’t resolve, or fatigue that lingers, it may be time to check in with your PT. We’re here to support you—before, during, and after the race.

Queer Joy Is Resistance
Fitness can be an incredibly affirming experience—when it’s safe and inclusive.
At Outshine, we know that for many LGBTQ+ individuals, past experiences in gyms or healthcare settings may have been dismissive or even harmful. That’s why we’ve created a space where all bodies, identities, and expressions are welcomed and celebrated.
Movement supports:
Mental health and emotional well-being
Confidence and resilience
A deeper connection to your body and its strength
We call that queer joy, and we’re proud to support it every day.
🏳️🌈 Outshine Is a Proud Ally
We proudly serve on the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Provider List, and our care is:
Trauma-informed
Gender-affirming
Respectful, inclusive, and built around you
With Ally and Community Member Clinicians, our goal is to make you feel at home and empowered every step of the way.
